Mangrove Snapper in Hilton Head?

I was surprised to reel this unusual catch to the boat. Unusual for here, at least. Mangrove Snapper are quite common further south in Florida, but South Carolina doesn’t see a lot of them inshore in the marsh creeks like this. It was my first in all my years of fishing here.

This one took a live mud minnow on a circle hook.
