Peak season fishing for huge Red Drum
Fishing for ginormous Red Drum (or Red Fish) in Hilton Head is one of my all time favorites. We’ve taken to calling them creek donkeys, as they can be stubborn, hard pulling fighters that aren’t eager to be landed. We catch and release these big fish on charters throughout the year, but the Fall season (mid September into November) is a nice peak with large schools coming further Inshore to spawn.
The 13 year old pictured above landed his new personal record fish, besting his previous “3 pound bass” by a LOT. What an awesome thing to see a youngster accomplish on a sunny October afternoon during his Fall Break. He will have one heckuva story to take back to his classmates and the pictures to prove it!
